The Role of the Delegate to the Cape Cod Council of Churches

Thank you for serving as a Delegate! Delegates are volunteers, appointed or elected as representatives from participating churches, who support the life of the Cape Cod Council of Churches. Your thoughtful service enables the ministries of the Council to thrive.

We ask that Delegates have an interest in and support for the Council’s mission:

Expressing God’s love by serving and empowering others: a partnership of Christian ministries strengthening community on Cape Cod and the Islands.

Tasks

  1. Take initiative using your church’s communication channels, i.e. newsletter, email, announcements, personal contact, in order to spread news about the Council to appropriate persons in your congregation.

  2. Share Council news and activities with your pastor.

  3. Make a commitment to strengthening the Council’s ministries by assisting with projects, encouraging your church’s financial support, communicating to us feedback about our work and praying for our life together.

  4. Attend Annual Assembly. Your attendance represents the presence of your church. Your warmth and wisdom contribute to our ecumenical witness.

Volunteer Delegates

Each church may have up to two delegates. Either clergy or laity may serve as a Delegate. Delegates serve for one year and may be renewed annually by the home church.

We thank you for praying for the Council and its missions.
