Hands of Hope Food Pantry & Outreach Center Launches Its Annual Backpack Program

Dear Friends,

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are reaching out to generous organizations and individuals to request donations of Backpacks and School Supplies for our needy students in our Cape Cod community. Many of the children we serve come from low-income families and struggle to afford the necessary basic materials to support their children’s education. Hands of Hope Outreach Center receives numerous requests from parents using our Food Pantry, School Nurses, School Guidance Counselors and sometimes from Neighbors who notice neighborhood children in need.

Beginning in July we request Backpacks for children in grades K-12 from any donors we can find. Past donors have been the Kiwanis Club, numerous Church members, Garden Clubs, Book Clubs, Neighborhood Associations, Newcomers Clubs, Alumni Associations, Retired Teachers, Sporting Groups and individual members of the Community.

We are seeking donations of the following items: Fill a Backpack or contribute separately:

  • Backpacks: New or gently used (more sturdy ones for grades 6-12 are greatly needed, if gently used NO names, stickers or personal information to appear).

  • Pencils, pens, highlighters, crayons & markers.

  • Notebooks: Both regular and college ruled including college ruled loose leaf paper.

  • 2 pocket folders.

Your contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of our students by providing them with the tools they need to succeed in their studies. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow, and with your support, we can help make this possible.

If you are able to assist, please let us know at your earliest convenience. We would be happy to arrange a time to pick up any donation, or items can be dropped off at the above stated address during the hours of Monday thru Thursday 10-3, Friday and Saturday 10-1. Additionally, if you would prefer to send a monetary donation to the address above, we can do the shopping for you!

We would like to request all donations be received on or before MONDAY, AUGUST 24th.
