Board Member

Katia Regina DaCunha is a dedicated community leader, advocate, and woman of faith who has devoted more than two decades to empowering immigrant families and marginalized populations on Cape Cod. Arriving in the United States as an immigrant more than 20 years ago, she transformed her personal journey into a calling to uplift others. Today, she teaches ESOL classes to immigrants, equipping newcomers with the language and confidence they need to navigate opportunities and build new lives.

For over ten years, Katia has also worked as a homicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault counselor, specializing in supporting survivors and underserved populations. Through this work, she has become a trusted voice of hope and resilience for women whose lives have been scarred by trauma, immigration barriers, or systemic injustice. Her unique gift is combining compassion with practical advocacy, helping individuals find both healing and empowerment.

Katia is the founder and driving force behind Latinx In Action, a nonprofit dedicated to providing dignity, hope, and essential services to immigrant families. In addition, she has also served on the Cape Cod Council of Churches Board of Directors for over a decade, where she helps guide the Council’s mission of faith, service, and justice across the region.
