Mary is an ordained clergywoman in the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) who currently serves full time as a Hospice Bereavement Coordinator with the VNA (Visiting Nurses Association). Mary was previously employed full time by the Cape Cod Council of Churches prior to the pandemic as the Protestant Hospital Chaplain at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis; was employed by the Upper Cape Chaplaincy part time as one the Hospital Chaplains at Falmouth Hospital prior to taking the full time bereavement position; and during the pandemic Mary served as a Hospice Chaplain for Broadreach Hospice. Mary also served as a “settled” Pastor in RI prior to taking the position with the Council and a “transitional” Pastor in Falmouth at Christ Lutheran Church at the end of the pandemic. Mary has been a resident of Cape Cod for more than 25 years, even as she served in Rhode Island.
Mary feels blessed and honored to be serving on the Council’s Board and relishes being involved in mission and ministry with all the faithful and dedicated people involved in all aspects of the Council’s ministries. She is chair of the Council’s Advisory Committee to the Covenant to Care for Foster Families ministry, as well as a member of the Chaplaincy Advisory Committee for the chaplain position at Spaulding Rehab in Sandwich.
